Beautiful space! Beautiful school

I can’t say much about what the school is like today, but when I attended back in 2013-2014, they would put on a yearly St. Nicholas festival where they would get either a student or a teacher to dress up in blackface and go along with someone dressed as St. Nicholas to all the classrooms to give all the kids oranges and read them little personalized speeches . It’s a really really weird experience to think back on . I’m almost certain the school doesn’t do that anymore, but I just wanted people to know what this school used to be like, seeing as they probably have some of the teachers who organized that whole racist, outdated festival still employed there.

Our daughter attends kindergarten here and I can’t say enough about it! She absolutely loves school. She comes home singing ‘Happy Birthday’ in 6 languages that reflect the classrooms cultural diversity, as well as many other joyful songs, actions and skits. She is doing math above her level just from counting stones and playing games with the teachers. They have really integrated play into every aspect of learning. The teachers and support I receive there is warm and insightful without being ‘preachy.’ We feel grateful and lucky to be here.
